The Boy and the Beast (バケモノの子) apparently left such a big impression on me that I am remembering it during this time of Prayer and Fasting, as I read about the “Scalpel of the Spirit,” putting on the mighty armor of God, the “Sword of the Spirit” which is His Word. With the mention of the Spiritual Warfare, I am reminded of scenes in the movie, when both the protagonist and antagonist were in moments of despair, and in different moments and circumstances, allows it to take root in their hearts. It was, for me, a clear example of how giving in to bitterness, contempt, resentment, or anger can swallow up the good in our hearts and just consume our being, and take control. Giving the devil a foothold, and letting the enemy reign in our hearts, so to speak.
This is a spiritual warfare, I thought. And just like in the movie, I also believe that we have the “Sword of the Spirit” in our hearts, which is Jesus. And through His Word this Sword is strengthened even more, as we allow it to pierce through our hearts, reveal its true character, and purify it as well.
P.S. I was bawwing like a baby while watching the movie. Awesome, GAR and heart-ful movie. <3
