Do you often feel like there’s so much to do and so little time in your hands? Or you constantly find yourself in a rat race, endless chasing and chased by deadlines, feeling unable to breathe and rest?
Here’s the common-sense unsolicited advice you may not want to hear: you might be taking in too much more than you can handle, and you need to let go of things to recalibrate and be able to do the rest of what you need/want to do.
I had this revelation when I was making my celery juice this morning. When I tried to fit in all the ingredients all at once, I can’t get it all blended—there’s no room to even blend! But when I did it in batches, blending 1/3 of the ingredients at a time, they amazingly got all blended and there’s still even space left after.
This is also true with our lives, isn’t it? If we think of the blender container as our lives and our capacity tank, we can see the wonders of not stuffing-everything-in-all-at-once has. With even a little space, we give room for recalibration, rearrangement, and make the rest of what we have blend well. With even more room for more! On the other hand, when we try to fit in everything everywhere all at once, we are not only unable to breathe, but we more or less are not able to accomplish much (if we do, it’s such a turtle pace and with much more dragging-our-feet struggle and effort)
And when we give room for God to move, boy does He does wonders and miracles in our lives.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 ESV
