After the cliffhanger episode 5, finally we get to see Kiyoka save his beloved Miyo from the hands of the cruel Saimoris in episode 6. Oh what a lovely episode!
For the first time in Miyo’s life, she finds that which is worth fighting for with her life, and fights for it with her heart and soul.
From the lifeless, close-to-despair-looking Miyo in the first episode, seeing that fierce look in her eyes despite getting slapped by her cruel stepmother is already a clear sign that something in her has changed.
Miyo’s resilience is truly admirable. And the way she fought for love, for truth, reminds me of how the apostles fought for the Good News way back.
We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed
2 Corinthians 4:8-9
This verse also comes to my mind as I witness Miyo’s act of courage and character development:
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.
1 John 4:18
(Side note: This is a verse I hold dear to my heart because it was also what gave me courage and peace when I fought for my relationship, and what I thought was God’s will for my life.)
Whereas in the past Miyo would have just sucked it up and let her family treat her as they wish–even when precious things are taken away from her–this time it’s a different game. She has finally found the one whom her soul loves (and loves her back), and she isn’t about to just let that go.
It’s the kind of love that makes you realize your true worth; the kind of love that gives your life purpose and meaning, gives you courage to live (and I mean truly, live)
After that hard-fought struggle, finally, Kiyoka comes to her rescue, just as he promised he would. And her expression immediately turns into joy, to overwhelming gratitude. What great pure love! 😭😭
This episode made me think of my own dear 旦那様 (hubby), and his great love as well 🥰 But more than anything, this kind of love reminds me of God’s great love for us—the kind of love that gives us worth, reminds us of our true worth—divinely created for His wonderful purpose.
Looking forward to episode 7! ^-^
